The URL for this page is on a couple, maybe more lists of some porn king. They get generated and sent out automatically. Kinda sucks! :( 6 Sun, Oct 28, 0:47AM EST Luther So I get the big idea that I'm going to "rearrange" my basement/music room. For about 2+ hours I move a number of amps, cabinets, basses, electric pianos, etc. I move the two Fender Rhodes Suitcases and start to get that "feeling" in my back. I stretch it out and continue by mix and matching SKB and Calzone case components to get an arrangement to suit some new gigs I have coming up. Before you know it, I've switched 3 Crest power amps and a few other heads and I'm feeling pretty good so I continue to move the Ampegs and such. 7 Sun, Oct 28, 0:49AM EST Luther Around 4PM I get ready for a gig I have at 6PM and everything is going well. I arrive at the gig, set up and I set to go. about 3 songs in my back decides it's had enough for the day and completely spazms out, cramps up and I'm in agony. I have to play 4 sets at a private function and I don't get out until midnight. I try everyting from alternating weight on each foot to wearing my bass on the other shoulder like Albert Collins used to do with his Tele. Nothing works, so I tough it out and here I am at 12:45 AM EST sipping a glass of wine and unable to feel my right side. I knew the years would catch up one day, but I didn't think it would be all at once. Probably signals the death of this board. Thanks "bassman" for one of the first bass (If not THE first) boards on the net. Much has been learned here from my bass brothers and sisters. RIP Bass Chat 10 Sat, Nov 3, 9:23AM EST Luther Are the "Alternate sites" still up and running? Perhaps we could resurrect one of those again. We shall see... 12 Mon, Nov 5, 10:47PM EST Mr Bass Hi Guys...been awhile..I hope the board gets back to some kind of sanity...it is a good board. I have been going to an open jam...not really into those but this was a blues jam...I played with the guitarist for ten years...he is not your at ypical guitarist this guy is great and his ego is in check...rare for a guitar player. Had a great time. 13 Tue, Nov 6, 7:30PM EST Luther Looks like Bassman got things running smoothly again. Now back to bass talk...I've recently fallen back in love with my Musicman Stingray 5-string. It sat "dormant" in it's case for a couple of years until I wanted to play a maple fingerbpard again. I almost forgot how nice it was to play a "normal" scaled bass. That Alembic and Modulus had m e stretching a little :-) 14 Sat, Nov 10, 11:46AM EST big g Like the Phoenix Bass Chat is back! Thanks bassman. 15 Sat, Nov 10, 11:54AM EST big g ebay has been berry berry good to me in the past, but this last year it has been like pulling teeth. I just got my first neg from an idiot who after a month now still hasn 't shipped the bass. I filed a claim with paypal. I will have to wait for any action. From now on if seller doesn't have 98+ feedback, I'm passsing on it. For a laugh, here are the last 2 emails I received for this jerk. wow im sorry ive been disconnected from ebay and the world for about a week and a half just got my internet connection back up today att here all day, i moved and had to do it so fast i took off work, just to much to think about with 3 kids. all my computer stuff was down no connection, no phone, my cell phone got stolen also and my truck is in the shop with a blown head gasket, what a week a ll i need to do to have good country song is cry in my beer and you send me negative feedback, like you have nothing better to do than sit around and type negative feedback , all i can say is thank you. you ebay people win something and you think the world should stop for you, whatever, yes you paid and yes you will get it but im not a ebay b usiness im not running a machine i just sold a bass for a friend and in the middle of it got a curve ball from life thrown at me give me a F%$#& break would ya. jee eeessss you did everything right,........whatever, including setting expectations for me that you neglected to inform me of, and would not have made any difference if you had. they would have fallen on deaf ears, get a life other than ebay shopper to the stars please. 16 Sat, Nov 10, 11:57AM EST big g hey negative feedback begets the same, especially when i dont need you to recite my life occurances to me, so what if you paid on time, so what if you tried to make a cheaper way to send it, who asked you to, who asked you to make personal phone calls, your impatient and wanted it yesterday, i never gave a specific delivery time frame in my auction, live in the real world, where shit happens and real people have real situations, and this may not be priority number 1, and did i mention SHIT HAPPENS, that you don't plan for, wow the bottom line is commercial commerce and private commerce have become so muddled that people expect the same time frame from a private party as they do a commercial seller, however we do not have the support system they have, employees who can make sure these things go without a problem, what happens when the human factor is included, i dont have 50 people at my beck and call to ship items for me, timely or not, and my family and my ongoing life will always take precident to this sodom and gamora of i want it and i want it now life style, so sit back grab a coke act like it dosent exsist and when the door bell rings is probably ups, then you can get excited, but not til then, ps and with regard to my previous dealings with other people, don't speculate and make your dumb ass comments when you have no comprehension of the situation, MYOFB. next time you decide to give negative feedback consider, the other partys life may be more or less complicated than your own, and they may not have mind melded with you to do exactly what you would have done, and you should not have expectations other than you will owe taxes and someday die, these are constants nothing else is set in stone. have a nice day ole impatient one! oh yea "sug ar sweetens the tea, kindness adds flavor, and compasion and understanding, make the experience taste devine". pss mutually removed feeback does not remove the comments only gives back perctage points, so let it be written so let it be done! Anyone want this idiots eBay ID, email me at rumblethump@yahoo.com 17 Sat, Nov 10, 12:01AM EST big g btw 6 days after the auction was over he emailed me saying the bass would be shipped the following Monday. So much for unreasonable expectations. I waited 12 more days and then left 2 messages 2 different days on his "stolen" phone. 18 Mon, Nov 12, 8:03AM EST Luther g...sounds like you had a rough experience. I won a shure transmittor from them for cheap. They send another transmittor different freqs. It then takes ten days for them to admit they don't have the tranmittor pictured. (Probably sold locally for more) Another 3 wks to get my refund. Watch out for daddy's. I won't deal with them again. 27 Thu, Dec 20, 9:46AM EST JohnnieA Testing a-1-a and-a 2-wa and-a 3-a. Any new toys? 10 Sun, Jan 27, 1:08PM EST Mr Bass Hi Fellas...just a cautionary note..I was doing a open jam(which I don't do many but was asked to come down) and into the second song my bass gets a tremendous loss of power, that the reg bass player, really great player and all around cool guy, comes over and adjusts my sound on the amp, which I was greatful for...I check out my bass when I get home to find out that the .02 battery clips one terminal was overstretched and the connection was intermittent, took a small jewlers pliers and tweaked it and all is good in bass land! 11 Sun, Jan 27, 1:11PM EST Mr Bass BTW..We just got accepted for Ultraradio.com they are putting our song "Everytime You Breath" in the cue from STONE RIVER..and the rest of the CD on @ night, it is an alternative band..I am the ole dog...but hey if they accept me and think I play like the young cats...I am not going to complain! Let me preface this by saying that I've kept the fire for "the ultimate bass" search burning and will likely continue to do so, HOWEVER...I reconnected with my 74' Jazz bass the other day. No, it doesn't have fancy exotic woods, active electronics or 5+ strings...but it's a mean mutha fuyer all the same. It came to me like a tidal wave when I blew the dust off an old LP in my basement. For those who weren't born yet or can't remember, an LP is vinyl...a record. Anyway, I slapped this old, scratchy albumn on my turntable and it blew my mind just like it did the first time I heard it all those years ago..."(Do You) Want Some of This" from the old band Stuff. Steve Gadd, Richard Tee, Gordon Edwards on bass...some baaaaad muthas playing some great music. I was inspired to grap any Fender bass I could get my hands on and the old 74' was closest. I wish everyone could feel what I was feelin' then. Now, if I only still had the blue line SVT and 8x10 Cabinet... 17 Tue, Feb 5, 2:43PM EST JohnnieA Hey there Bass Brothers.. Well my position with my current employer has been eliminated and outsourced to a 3rd world country. It s not like the company is doing poorly and has to reduce head count. Quite the contrary, the company is doing great! So, after 30 years of service I m being thrown out like yesterdays newspaper. My wife s position is also being outsourced to this same 3rd world country. Let s hear it for corporate America! Sorry for ranting and for being off topic. Just a little frustrated since we are too young to retire and too old to start new careers .. cheech :( 18 Sat, Feb 9, 10:06PM EST Mr Bass Hey Johnnie..Sorry to hear about that...it's happening all over. Something similiar happened to me, and its almost like you have to reinvent yourself, it isn't easy but you can do it. It sucks, I wish you all the best, one door closes another opens, try to remain psoitive! 19 Sun, Feb 10, 10:44AM EST big g Johnnie A> sounds like an opportunity to reintroduce the SSS and Ergo basses. I still think they are a great ideas that were just a bit ahead of their time. Corporate greed is bleeding the american middle class dry. The recession is just the first of many dominoes about to fall. I was just hit with $10,000 bill just to diagnose I had a kidney stone. The treatment........stronger drugs. When will it end? 20 Mon, Feb 11, 11:35AM EST JohnnieA Thanks guys, for your words of encouragement. As you say MB, It sucks and it does. I was hoping to get a couple more years to be able to early out. Oh well.. Yes, I am going to remain positive and see what happens. Big g>> Yep, I was thinking the same thing. Like start being a lot more aggressive with those two products which I have pretty much left dormant for the past few years. My daughter and son in law have built me a myspace page and my daughter designed a new business card for me as a start. I gave the son in law an SSS bass as a wedding gift a few years ago and he used it in L.A. when they recorded their 3rd album with Scott Humphrey as producer. Scott told him that the SSS was the best sounding bass he had ever recorded in his 20 years in the business. Made me feel pretty good, so I built one more completed SSS which I call the T-Bird and am in the middle of another one modeled somewhat after the Mosrite. So, I guess time will tell. Yep, health care is also way out of control. When will it end? Probably when become the 3rd would country 21 Thu, Feb 14, 6:08AM EST ruspetriot Hello! guys please tell me where can I found free sex 22 Fri, Feb 15, 12:04AM EST easy if your handy. 23 Sat, Feb 16, 11:52PM EST Venswossedege Hi! 24 Thu, Feb 21, 10:02PM EST Loomagog Bassists are the best 25 Mon, Feb 25, 2:43PM EST tourne Bassists are the best 26 Tue, Mar 11, 1:08PM EST JohnnieA Happened upon this site where the owner "Bruce Johnson" has built a rather unique stand-up bass. It's called the 'Bass Banjo' and is pretty cool looking. Here's the URL button Do a search on Bass Banjo if this URL defaults back to the Relay Chat. 7 Tue, Mar 18, 8:01PM EST Luther Let's perform some CPR around here folks. Anyone been to youtube lately? They have some nice footage of the Billy Cobham/George Duke band from Montreux 1976. Alphonso Johnson looks VERY young. He's playing a boutique looking fretless on "Juicy" that I can't identify. Anyone recognize it? button 8 Wed, Mar 19, 0:43AM EST JohnnieA Already tried CPR Luther. Looks like defibrillation may be needed. BTW, all URL buttons link back to this site. I must say that was a pretty cool move Bassman. If the vermin can't advertise their crap with a link, then it's not worth lingering around. Bassman, you are still the man! 9 Wed, Mar 19, 7:35PM EST Luther Just for shits and giggles...Let's see if this pic uploads 10 Wed, Mar 19, 7:35PM EST Luther "http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/mjc1169/IMG_3270.jpg" 11 Wed, Mar 19, 7:40PM EST Luther OK, that's a Frankenstein that's just arrived back from theshop. Body is from my 82' (20th anniv. reissue), Bartolini 9s passives, neck is "new". My buddy's shop had it hanging on a wall. It's a '72. Frets were gone and filled with boat apoxy (where have I seen that before, LOL). Luthier did a nice job restoring the neck. Plays like butter. They say tone has a lot to do with the neck. This one has a much better sound than the neck that came with the bass. 12 Thu, Mar 27, 6:17PM EST Luther Test image. I hope this hows up.
